Ultrasound Manager

The partnership of EFW Radiology owns and operates thirteen community-based clinics providing Diagnostic Imaging, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Pain Management services. Since its inception, EFW has been actively involved in teaching at graduate and post-graduate levels at the University of Calgary and SAIT. EFW physicians are also involved in a variety of research areas at the University of Calgary. EFW Radiology is a growing organization which performs more than 600,000 imaging studies, interventional procedures, second opinions and consultations annually.


We are currently accepting applications for a regular fulltime Ultrasound Manager. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the Ultrasound Manager is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the delivery of ultrasound services within EFW's community practice ensuring that patients are provided with an exceptional experience.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Establishes and maintains standards for the provision of exceptional ultrasound services;
  • Provides leadership and guidance to supervisory staff including setting expectations, monitoring performance, and providing feedback and coaching;
  • Creates, develops and maintains efficient ultrasound processes focussed on providing patients with an exceptional EFW experience and adhering to all legislative requirements;
  • Responsible for recruitment and selection of staff creating a strong team working environment;
  • Evaluates staff performance and ensures that an annual performance evaluation is completed for all ultrasound staff; Addresses performance concerns in a timely and effective manner, initiating corrective action as required, up to and including dismissal;
  • Develops and presents the annual ultrasound expense and revenue budget for approval to the Director of Operations, CEO, and Director of Finance; adheres to approved budgets regularly monitoring expenses throughout the fiscal year;
  • Plans, develops and implements new programs, special projects, new material and equipment acquisitions to advance EFWs mission of providing sub-specialty care;
  • Collaborates with others on the EFW team by promoting good staff relations, strong team culture, and building on strengths to achieve results;
  • Models EFW values of Compassion, Trust, and Meaning in the workplace;
  • Adheres to all privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures as they relate to EFW, our patients and our employees;
  • Undertakes other related duties as assigned.


  • A degree or diploma in a health related or diagnostic imaging modality discipline along with three to five years of experience leading and managing the day-to-day work activities of a diverse and growing team along with current registration with the appropriate licensing body is required.
  • Sonography diploma and a Credentialed Member of Sonography Canada with liability insurance along with 5 years sonography experience is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to manage tasks requiring accuracy and attention to detail in a busy fast paced work environment;
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute on operational projects effectively and efficiently;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.



Working Conditions


  • Required to have a current driver's license and vehicle to conduct business at any EFW clinic location.
